The tale

The Story

Lerner & Loewe's beloved Camelot tells the story of an idealistic young king, his queen Guenevere, and the noble knight Lancelot — a love triangle that tests the fellowship of the Round Table and Arthur's dream of a kingdom ruled not by force, but by law, courage, and compassion. A full Broadway-style staging with live singing, dance, and sword combat, performed in English by an international company drawn from Da Nang's community.

How it began

From a December 2025 idea

Camelot began as a December 2025 idea in Bangkok. Founder Denis Burkatsky wanted to keep performing — specifically in musicals — but around Da Nang there was no musical-theatre troupe to join: the few local groups staged plays, not musicals, which were considered too expensive. So he decided to create — and self-fund — a production of his own.

Camelot was the choice from the start: a show he'd performed before, and whose songs he was already learning in voice lessons with music director René van Nguyen. He would step into the role of Lancelot himself.

The result was a rare large-scale English-language musical for central Vietnam — live sword combat and singing, with Vietnamese subtitles projected onto the theatre's side panels, staged by an international cast and crew drawn from ten countries.
